For Romaine Stephens, Community Health Workers are “the magic pill” we need to make health equity a reality. The trust Community Health Workers build with the families they serve is essential to improving health outcomes in communities across South Carolina. According to Stephens, “It takes a level of trust to let someone in your home… on a consistent basis or come into that space. If the CHW goes in and they have taken [the vaccine], [the families] are more likely to ask their CHW about the vaccine”

Special thanks to Family Solutions and South Carolina Center for Rural and Primary Healthcare for facilitating these conversations and supporting the work of CHWs across South Carolina. https://www.facebook.com/CCHAUofSC/videos/972401186675294
